The Arp 2500
|
|
Described as "the embodiment of second generation
design and thinking" The 2500 was aimed at "the
serious ultra-professional" and had a price tag of
around £5400 in 1973, more than the average detached
house at the time! There was no fixed configuration,
as customers specified the module complement when
ordering. Arp made much of its precision and
fidelity, no doubt to try and win over Moog
customers, used to unstable oscillators. The 2500
however was not entirely without flaw. Several
modules (1027, 1045 and 1047) were known to suffer
from instability.
The following pages include scans from a number of
early ARP/Tonus Inc documents. One is a preliminary
"Development Report" from March 1970, the other
dated August 10th 1970. The preliminary document
includes a tantalising list of "coming soon" modules
(Marked as "Proposed module" in the table below),
most of which never saw the light of day.
